1 day detox with Fit n’ Tasty

This week started off absolutely terribly. I’m a total morning person, so when my alarm rang Monday morning and I could hardly muster the strength to actually open my eyelids let alone get out of my warm bed, it was a bad sign. It ended up being one of those days where I was running out the door late, forgot half the stuff I needed, was unorganized and just not on my ish. Anyways, it was a bad day, and bad start to the week. I was working at an event as a bartender on Monday night to make some extra pocket money and ended up snacking on curry roasted cashews all night. No joke, pretty sure I consumed more than my body weight in cashews (not on my meal plan game either?!!? This was clearly a really bad day). So all in all, went to bed late, full of cashews, feeling even worse than when I woke up. My saving grace Tuesday morning was a ring at my door at 8:30am, where the mail man handed me over my Fit n’ Tasty 1 day detox box. Feeling almost worse than I did Monday morning, a day of only cleansing cold-pressed juices was exactly what I needed, and this is how it went.

IMG_0186Fit n’ Tasty is an organic cold-pressed detox juice company based in Lausanne, Switzerland. For the fellow Swiss foodies, you know how hard it is to find healthy products (Lausanne especially is sooo behind on the whole health-food trend like common guys NO I DON’T WANT FONDUE I WANT A WHOLEFOODS MARKET), so having organic, cold-pressed juices made with fresh, locally sourced produce delivered to your door is like winning jackpot for a fit foodie. They sell single juices as well as detox packages of 1, 3, 5 or 7 days; I started off easy with a 1 day detox to try it out.

IMG_0145Tuesday morning a nice little white box full of 5 different juices was waiting for me at my door (is it Christmas already!? Are midterms already over?! Is this a dream!?) Nope not a dream, it wasn’t already Christmas and midterms are still in a few weeks, but the box of juices was real, and that was good enough. The juices are labeled with numbers, so you know in which order to have them, and the day started off with juice 1: ginger & water.

IMG_0167The first juice was a nice little kick, good way to start. Tuesday was a crazy busy day, so being on the detox was actually perfect, I didn’t even have to worry about preparing food. I had juice 2: Deep Clean green juice right after the gym, and it was the perfect refresher. For lunch around 2pm I had my 3rd juice: Pimp Me Up with carrot, apple and kiwi. At this point I was starting to get hungry, but I sipped on my juice slowly, having lots of water in between and it filled me up. My late afternoon snack was juice 4 and I had juice 5 as a late “dinner”.

IMG_0174So was I hungry? Was I starved? Was it absolutely miserable and painful? No, not at all. I could really feel that the juices contained all the fibres, vitamins and minerals I needed, and didn’t even crave more food. I didn’t even feel hungry when I went to bed, which I often do if I have an early dinner (I’ll usually get into bed, realize I’m hungry, and then the struggle is deciding if I’m hungry enough to actually get out of bed to have dinner round 2). I will admit I was pretty hungry when I woke up the following morning however, and that I welcomed a giant bowl of porridge with biiiiig smile on my face, but I also felt cleansed and refreshed (plus hello morning abs when you’ve lived on juice the day before).

IMG_0207In conclusion, since I follow a very healthy, whole-food diet, hardly drink alcohol or coffee, I’m not sure if there was much my body needed to cleanse itself of, however my mind really needed a little clean up, and it really got it. It was a nice little break on my system to just have liquids all day, plus bonus, the juices are tasty AF, and the name speaks the truth cuz they’ll also leave you feeling fit as hell. Definitely recommended! Check out their website, they ship country-wide!
